Ambassador Review: The Krypton Jacket with Jack Thompsett

Jack is a professional Scottish mountain guide and Montane Ambassador.  He has been testing the Krypton for a number of months, both when guiding people professionally in Scotland, and on when pursuing his own projects and goals.

I’ve used the jacket as an outer layer on nice weather days and used it as a mid-layer on days where I’ts too wet to take photos! I’ve stayed comfortable, warm, and sweat-free the whole time.

The second I put on the Krypton, I knew I would be wearing it regularly. The GRANITE high loft brushed interior is soft to the skin, resulting in the jacket being very comfortable to wear. I had my doubts whether a fabric this soft would effectively wick away moisture but after using it in the mountains I was pleasantly surprised. It wicks away sweat very efficiently and additionally the fabric traps heat well, keeping you warm on those colder days.

Having a Durable Water Repellent (DWR) fabric on the outside insures you stay dry in the event of a quick shower. Wind is not an issue, having no effect on you with the Krypton on.

The Jacket has a nice long fit meaning it won’t lift out of your harness. Stretchy fabric under the arms allows free movement when you’re having to reach for that high hold.

The Krypton is an impressively comfy soft-shell which traps heat well without losing the ability to wick moisture.  The durable, windproof, and water-resistant fabric will make it ideal for those early and cold Scottish mountain walk-ins where the weather is famously unpredictable!
